About Us

Who we are:
We’re a diverse group of people who like to grow gladiolus and/or dahlias. Some members have years of experience they’re happy to share, and others are beginners.
What we do:
We meet on the first Tuesday of the month, February through November at St. Philip Church Hall, 1797 Cedar Road, Nanaimo. Meetings start at 7 o’clock with updates on club activities, planning for coming events and news from other clubs. We continue with learning about growing dahlias and gladiolus, sometimes with a demonstration and/or hands-on learning or a guest speaker sharing his or her knowledge.
The club started in 1964 with members from the Nanaimo Chrysanthemum Society and the Nanaimo Horticulture Society and now has 82 members. Click here for the club’s history.
We have an Annual Glad Corm and Dahlia Tuber Sale, this year on Saturday, April 18, 2026, and an Annual Flower Show, this year’s dates are Saturday and Sunday, August 29 and 30, 2026.
Our club’s purposes are:
- to encourage, and promote the growing and showing of gladiolus and dahlias.
- to encourage the cultivation and development of gladiolus and dahlias.
- to support education and learning about gladiolus and dahlias.
- to conduct Annual Gladiolus and Dahlia Shows.
- to support learning and trial gardens.
We acknowledge that we gather on the territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, the traditional keepers of the land.
